4/2/09 - New Drug Discount Card Can Save Consumers 70% on Medications

NeedyMeds announces a new drug discount card with significant savings on many medications.

(Vocus) April 2, 2009 NeedyMeds, the Web's most comprehensive source of information on programs that help those in medical need, is now sponsoring a drug discount card. The card, accepted at over 55,000 pharmacies nationwide, offers users up to 70% off the list price of prescription medications.

NeedyMeds has taken steps to maximize the discount received by eliminating any enrollment or registration fee and keeping administrative costs low. This results in a larger discount to patients. In addition, each time the card is used a small donation is made to NeedyMeds to help it continue its work.

"We are always looking for additional ways to help those without drug coverage," said Rich Sagall, M.D., President of NeedyMeds. "This card is just another tool for people who are having trouble paying for their medications. The small donation to NeedyMeds will help us expand the information on our Web site and help more people."

NeedyMeds receives no information on individual purchases made using the Discount Card. A patient does not need to register or share any personal information in order to use the card. The same card can be shared by all members of the family. All can information can be directly from the NeedyMeds Web site at http://www.needymeds.org/drugcard (http://www.needymeds.org/drugcard) and is ready to use. A patient simply presents the NeedyMeds Discount Card at a participating pharmacy along with a valid prescription. If a patient prefers to have a more permanent plastic card, one can be ordered from the website.
